According to a recent Loveawake dating site survey , 81% of failed marriages have either couples who take each other for granted or don’t talk with each other as much and when they talk, they end up having unnecessary arguments.

It’s sad to know that couples who were once so in love with each other failed to maintain what they once had. It’s never easy to stay in love but if you truly treasure that person, you would do everything to make them stay.

Oftentimes, couples find their other half irritating and what used to make them smile and happy doesn’t do that anymore. With these kinds of problems, frustration and constant arguments will be experienced. Airing it all out to an unbiased third party such as a counsellor will help you in communicating with your spouse without having to argue.

First time in expressing each other’s feelings with the counsellor may be awkward as you and your spouse have not talked for quite some time. Say what you have to say, particularly on how you are feeling and the reasons why you don’t want to go on with your marriage.

Don’t just rely on counsellors to help you. They are simply listening to what the both of you have to say and may make a few comments to guide you to an option or solution. But it is always up to the couple to solve their problems. When you are too consumed with a problem, you can’t think straight, but when you look at it with a different perspective; you might see things are much simpler.

If you are considering or even thinking about marriage counselling, then your marriage is definitely worth saving. After all, you wouldn’t have thought about it if you don’t want to save your marriage.

Few things to be kept in mind before visiting a counsellor are to be mentally prepared to talk, to listen and to welcome suggestions. And be prepared for what your spouse has to say. You may laugh at the issues when they are aired. You will see that it will decrease the burden and lighten the mood.

The world we live in today is a stressful one and has many demands. Stop worrying about tomorrow and conquer your fears. Talk to your spouse about how you feel. The support and love from your partner will make you feel secure. But if you keep it all to yourself, they’ll never know that you’re feeling that way. Seeking professional from a counsellor will bring these issues to light.
